I am now in Algarve, where the seafood is the highlight of all the restaurants here! Our hotel suggested this place to us because of their amazing pork and clam soup (alentejana), so I was very excited to come here and try their signature dish. This is a very popular dish in Portugal, because there are lots of clams around the coast and the people love making stews with them. Surprisingly, the restaurant was very simple looking and a little run down-- but, this is a typical style of most portugese restaurants, with tiles on the walls, wood tables and plastic chairs. It's a family run restaurant, so there were some middle aged cooks, a young waiter, and an old bartender, still doing his job! Of course, all 3 of us ordered the pork and clams. Definitely worth coming here, because it was AMAZING!!! It came in a big metal pot, which kept the meal steaming for the entire time. The clams were tiny-- but nice and garlicky and very tender. The pork was a little bit tough. The meal came with soft potato rounds, which tasted great if you dipped it in the spicy, oily broth; it wasn't really for spooning into your mouth. The broth looked like it had a tomato base, but I looked at the recipes, and it's actually made with a red pepper paste. No wonder this place does so well, because the food is spectacular. I caught some glimpses of other dishes too, which looked yummy. Overall, I give Bica 4 pineapples. Till next time!
