We started with the Black Pepper Fried Calamari, which was actually pretty spectacular. The calamari was just crispy and chewy enough and the spice mix (jalapeƱo, fried scallions and other herbs) that covered the calamari really enhanced the saltiness and overall flavor of the dish.
Then the waiter brought the rest of the meal. The green prawns-- by far the highlight of the night-- the curry flavor and the hint of spice on the tender prawns contributed perfectly to the sweet water chestnuts, bell peppers, and mushrooms mixed in with the dish. Next, the vegetable fried rice was hot in temperature but had a little bit too much soy for my liking. Then, the broccoli side. It was very bland and boring. All the adults really liked it, they thought it was delicate in flavor. Finally, the filet mignon-- this may be the most tender slice of meat I have ever had in my entire life. The skin was very crunchy, and there was a drizzle of delicious, sweet/savory worcestershire flavored sauce.
Unfortunately, after the amazing food, the restaurant ended back on a strange note. The waiter brought us a plate of four sample desserts, and was really pushy to sell them to us.
Even though the food was great, the rest of the restaurant experience was poor. Overall, I give Red Stixs 3 pineapples. Till next time!
