The moment you enter Hearth, you feel as if you've been transported to some old ranch house on top of a mountain. Antlers and buffalo skins hang from the walls, while the waiter sports a mountain beard and the dim lighting offers a sense of comfort yet luxury. The menu is split into several sections, including fish, vegetables, and grains. However, I tried something a little bit different in the Offal section. I ordered the Hearth Burger, which included brisket, heart, and liver meat, topped with carmelized onions and Gruyere cheese. I expected it to be a fairly normal burger despite the addition of the liver and heart, but when it arrived, there was no bun. I actually enjoyed it this way because I was able to taste and differentiate the textures and the flavors of the various meats. The liver was a bit too mushy and had a strange metallic flavor. The heart tasted similar to the brisket but was extremely chewy. The burger was accompanied with some smashed fried potatoes. My parents started with a large bowl of brown butter-sage gnocchi. They then ordered tender pork ribs, a delicious plate of sautéed greens topped with toasted bread crumbs and a pesto puree. They also shared a wreck-fish with smashed potatoes, wakame, and spicy cherry tomato slices. It was a very firm white fish with a mild flavor. I give Hearth 4 pineapples. Great atmosphere, and some interesting menu choices, but I didn't leave fully satisfied.
Till next time!
