A-Wah Restaurant- 5 Catherine Street New York, NY 10038
The A-Wah restaurant specializes in hot pot casseroles. I ordered the House Special Chinese Sausage with a side order of sliced roasted pork. A lot of the rice and sausage was a little to salty, but the clay pot made it stay hot and crunchy at the bottom. It reminded me of Korean Bibimbap and a Spanish Paella. The sliced pork side had a delicious taste. The meat was very tender and the sauce had a ginger, scallion and soy sauce flavor. The sauteed baby bok choy had a crunch and was slightly sweet and was very fresh. The place itself was tiny and it was old and raggedy. The service was great and the people were friendly. The manager asked my Dad what state he was from and my Dad said from Lafayette street, here in the city. Crazy! Do we look like tourists? It was cash only, good thing since it was pretty cheap. Overall, out of 5 pineapples, I rate it 3. - Until next time- TDG
