Miss Korea - 10 West 32nd Street, NYC
Miss Korea is barbeque heaven. I ordered the Marinated Clay Pot Kalbi and the Marinated De-boned Short Rib. If you grill the meat right, it comes out absolutely tender with tons of flavor. When you order the meat, it comes with a small corn on the cob, onions and sweet potatoes. Since when is corn on the cob part of the Korean meal? Did a farmer give it to them because he had too much? The other crazy thing was that it was a small section of a full corn. It was a really fat baby corn! I also got the Nakji Bokkeum, which is supposed to be a very spicy octopus and a thick, slippery noodle. If you slurp the noodle, it comes straight up into your mouth! Another thing my mom ordered was the Sundubu Jjigae which is an organic tofu stew. I didn't have any because it was literally bubbling a lava pit about to burst. It was a satisfying meal, with great service. Now for the negatives. They gave us a dish with two pieces of lettuce to make wraps, except there were 5 of us. Where's the rest of the lettuce? The meat had a little too much fat in it, and the octopus was not as spicy as expected. Most Korean BBQ are smoky, but this one was crazy! Overall, out of 5 pineapples, I give it a 3. -Until next time- TDG
