Chinatown Brasserie - 380 Lafayette St. NYC
We went to happy hour and sat at the bar to have dim sum. I only had a pineapple juice- no alcohol for me. I ordered the Roast pork buns, which are my favorite. The meat inside was extra juicy and tender, and the bun itself was sweet and fluffy. Then we got the pork and shrimp dumplings which I didn't like so much because it was tasteless. Then came the pork pot stickers, which were delicious. The skin is thin and the filling is full, which combined = great. The soy dipping sauce with scallions and chili peppers made it extra flavorful. The lamb pot stickers were okay. We also had the lettuce wraps with chicken, pine nuts, and crunchy vegetables. I put a chili hot sauce on it- which it needed. My dad puts mustard in it. I think the mustard wouldn't taste as good with it. My mom ordered the shrimp and snow pea leaf dumplings- which I love but I was too stuffed. Usually, those dumplings creep me out because they have these little eyes that stare at you. But you just have to eat them and not think about the scary side. Mostly, we sit in the main restaurant where the service is slow and painful. At the bar, it is quick! Overall, I give it 4 pineapples. Why do they always have to give the chocolate fortune cookies! I dislike chocolate! -tdg
