Hecho en Dumbo - 354 Bowery St, New york
Hecho en Dumbo is a lively, hip mexican restaurant. Yummy! I was in the mood for some spice. The waitress forgot our chips and salsa, but when they finally came the chips were very fresh and still warm. There were three salsas: tomato salsa, which had nice flavor with cilantro, a green spicy tomatillo salsa with a big after-burn and a dark red smokey salsa. All their salsas are made fresh every day. I ordered the Tacos de Costilla. The beef was flavored well but was too stringy. The cilantro and onions gave the tacos a big zest of flavor and the tortillas don't fall apart. I thought it was okay. My mom and dad ordered the appetizer Picaditas de Jaiba. The crab meat was really tender, avocados were creamy, and the little bit of jalapeno oil makes the whole dish special. My dad's entree was the Chamorro Cantinero - pork shank with fixings to wrap in tortillas. It was a pretty good portion and very tender. The menu seemed very interesting- maybe too authentic for a kid like me. FYI the bathroom is humongous!! Overall, I give it 3 1/2 pineapples. Adios!-tdg
