Market Table - 54 Carmine street at Bedford street
This is a restaurant where the food comes fresh from a local market, to your table. The place is small, but gets lots of light due to a ton of windows. The walls all have shelves with wine - red, white and rose. The atmosphere was like a lively farmhouse. The waiter gave us the brunch menu and I immediately saw what I wanted. The burger. I told them to cook it medium-well and it came out perfect with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles on the side. The burger was meaty and juicy with great seasonings. It also came with delicious french fries. They were thick, crispy, and salty. Yum! My dad and uncle both ordered the Braised short ribs. I didn't try any, but my uncle said they were tender, and had delicious wilted greens, breadcrumbs, and cheesy grits. It smelled comforting, like something you want to eat on a cold day. My mom ordered the Homemade merguez sausage sandwich with a greek salad. My mom told the waiter that the salad tasted day old and that she wanted a fresh one. So she sent it back. Her sausage was a little greasy and too rare. When the waiter came back, he told my mom that the chef said that it's supposed to taste like that. I find it weird because this restaurant is supposed to have extremely fresh food. Market to table. So she just ordered a house salad. It was a good meal, but the salad confused us. Overall, I give it 3 1/2 pineapples. I think I'll try it again. Till next time - tdg
