Majestic Elegance, Punta Cana, DR (Christmas special)

It's Christmas break and my family went to the resort Majestic Elegance in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic.  I wanted some sun and beach.  They had beautiful warm ocean water, an outdoor game room and lots of FOOD.  All you can eat buffet, at any time.  For breakfast every day I usually had the sausages, which were very tender.  Every day I also found a delicious doughnut.  It had chewy dough, with lots of sprinkled sugar.  Fresh from the oven!  I was also really looking forward to the bacon, but I was disappointed.  The bacon was always stale.  What a bummer!  The fruit was so so.  The pineapples were sweet but nothing else.  For lunch we also went to the same buffet.  I got a pasta where you could choose your sauce and toppings.  I always got a salad because the vegetables are very fresh.  After my pasta course, I would usually get some protein.  Their ham pizza is amazing, but the burgers are horrible.  The burger is as hard as a rock with a cardboard taste.  Euh.  For dinner we tried different restaurants.  One night we ate Japanese.  The chef puts on a show while he cooks for you, and he was very entertaining.  For an appetizer he made fried rice.  He put way too much soy sauce on it.  SALTY!  I did like that he threw rice balls into your mouth to catch.  Then he made beef, shrimp, chicken kabobs and veggies.  We said no soy because everything would have been too salty.  The beef was chewy, the chicken was tasteless, and the vegetables were too bland.  But the shrimp was spectacular.  It was tender, juicy, and had a delicious, sweet sauce.  Another night, we went to the seafood restaurant with another family that we met.  I made friends with a kid named Jack.  I ordered shrimp again.  This time the shrimp was breaded, with a spicy sauce.  It had yellow rice in the middle of the plate.  The shrimp was just good.  The rice tasted more like risotto, but I didn't mind.  I loved the sauce.  It had jalapenos, onions and red peppers mixed in.  I even convinced my friend Jack to try his first shrimp and broccoli.  The parents ordered lobster and grouper.  Delicious.  All the food took forever to come and they gave us salads that we didn't even ask for.  But the food was still good.  The workers around the whole resort were very nice, always asking if you wanted more.  Sometimes it did get a little annoying.  And they kept calling me 'baby'.  What I loved about the trip is that I got to order unlimited shirley temples, pineapple juices, and fantas.  The lemonades were too sweet.  When I asked for coke, they gave me pepsi, which I'm not a fan of.  Overall, I give the resort 2 pineapples for food, 4 for beach, which averages out to a 3.  Adios amigos!- tdg  P.S. Merry Christmas and Happy New year!
