Momofuku- 171 1st Avenue, NY

Momo beep!!!!!  We walked into the brightly lit room.  My grandma, grandpa and uncle had come along to eat some buns and noodles!  A small wooden table and short benches awaited us.  It was freezing!  All of the noodles are hand cut and freshly made.  To start, we ordered the pork and brisket buns.  The brisket buns were the daily special.  The pork was very fatty, but melted in your mouth and the scallions and hoisin sauce created the perfect combination.  The bun was fluffy, warm and chewy.  Very nice pork bun.  I did not enjoy the brisket bun.  The meat was too tough and the mayo turned me off, not my favorite sauce.  Soon, our noodle dishes came.  We got the momofuku ramen, the spicy miso ramen, and the chilled spicy noodles.  The noodles were springy and tasty.  The momofuku was very plain, and the broth a bit sweet.  This is a very famous dish- I don't know what the big hype was about!  The spicy miso ramen had chicken, swiss chard with a miso based broth.  It tasted much better and had more flavor.    My mom got the chilled spicy noodles.  At first, the dish looked as if it had no seasoning.  You start eating and eating as the spice builds up until your mouth is on fire!  The spinach leaves cooled it down, and the sausage gave a nice salty flavor.  The candied cashews ruined the entire dish.  There were way too many and too sweet.  I was expecting a much more delicious meal, but you get what you get.  Overall, I give momofuku 2 pineapples.  Till next time- tdg  P.S. Sorry David Chang!
