Live Bait-- 14 E 23rd Street, NY

Live Bait is a bustling pub with great catches hanging on the wall.  My mom, uncle and I sit down at a booth, with the creepy eyes of a swordfish staring down at me.  It was quiet at lunch because it usually fills up at night.   My mom and I both order the jailhouse chili over dirty rice, beef and beans, topped with a hot layer of melted cheese and sliced onions.  The chili is very hot and heart-warming, but there are just too many beans!  I only find three small slivers of beef in the whole bowl, and eventually I get tired of the taste of beans.  But, the rice is delicious and the cheese is very, um.... cheesy!  A nice touch to the chili at the table are the two extra spicy habanero sauces-- one of them is called Bone Suckin' sauce, probably better for a meat dish.  That sauce was hot and sweet.  The other was just spicy, and we add plenty to the chili.  My uncle orders the blackened catfish with a side of collard greens.  The collard greens were delicious, and the catfish was very moist with a perfect kick of cajun rub on it.  Overall, I give Live Bait 3 pineapples.  Till next time!
