This is one of the oldest restaurants in the Hamptons, and it was an inn for many years until they opened a restaurant also. It is one of the most respected restaurants in the Hamptons, and I was very excited to try it out. It ended up being an excellent dinner with a nice atmosphere, perfect for Father's Day. We got seated on the left side, close to the back door which led out to a beautiful garden. We started with the Fluke Tartare-- wow was that an impressive start to the meal! The fluke was very fresh, avocado was creamy, and the wasabi tobiko added crunch and zing, which melted together for one great bite. Then we had oysters-- those were actually the best oysters I've ever had in my life. I barely had to lift the shell for the oyster to slide into my mouth, and then just melt, leaving a nice briny, salty flavor. For my dad's entree, he ordered the Local Black Sea Bass. The fish was very sweet and flaky, but didn't need so much butter sauce.
My mom and I shared the Roasted Halibut with Green Curry-- absolutely spectacular. The halibut stayed hot the whole time, which contributed and mixed nicely with the cold scallions and roasted string beans. The garbanzo beans were very fresh, and the black rice added a needed earthiness to the dish. Also, I really like Green Curry now with fish, because of its spicy and bright flavors. Overall, a great fathers day dinner. I haven't given one of these in a while-- 1770 house, 5 pineapples!
Till next time--
