Hello everyone! I am back, with a new review from Manhattan! Empire Diner is a cool, reopened gourmet american restaurant from Top Chef Amanda Freitag. The exterior has the shape and look of a classic diner, and the interior is cozy and a very retro. The unique dish there that everyone raves about is the buffalo skate wings, which sound delicious-- however, we wanted to try other things. My mom and dad started with the Feta Cheese Sticks and The Pea Soup. The cheese sticks had a perfect mix of crunch, saltiness and sweetness from the addition of the figs and honey. The pea soup was hot,
thick, creamy and had a delicious crispy potato cake in the center. For my entree, I ordered the fish and chips-- I've been craving some! The fish was very flakey, nice amount of meat, and oh the malt vinegar. So good! My dad ordered the Skirt Steak with smashed potatoes. The steak was fine, but the potatoes had a great crisp on the outside and was delicious mopping up the beef juice that puddled on the plate. My mom loved the pea soup appetizer so much that she ordered it as her entree too! Finally for dessert-- the chocolate cake. It was so light and airy but satisfying without being too sweet. In
other words, unbelievable. And then I also ordered the hot donut holes with dripping caramel. Fluffy, sweet and just a great mouthful. Overall, there was nothing bad about this meal at all, and I rate it 4 pineapples! Takes diner food to a new level. Till next time.
