The Greenwich Project-- 47 W 8th Street, NY

These are the kind of restaurants I love-- cozy, has brunch AND lunch options, and overall feels like a very cool and relaxed place. My parents, uncle, and grandparents and I sat at a large wood table next to a big picture window.  A few drinks went around the table, including bellini, a bloody mary, and water. For my lunch, I had the burger. And what a delicious burger! It was perfectly tender with a nice char, had gooey melted cheese on top, had extra flavor from the chopped peppers mixed in with the beef, and came with a homemade spicy ketchup that added contrast to the salty flavors of the burger. Not to mention, a well toasted brioche bun and some crispy fries! Yummy! My father and my grandpa had similar pounded thin grilled chicken dishes with a salad-- a little on the dry side. My grandma had the lemon ricotta pancakes-- absolutely huge! I've never seen a larger pancake in my life, and it also tasted amazing! The sweetness of the dough perfectly mixed with the saltiness of the butter and the tartness of the raspberries.  The pancake itself had a cake-like texture with a subtle lemon flavor.  My mom had the steak tartare-- the beef was high quality and hand cut, but really needed seasoning-- so we requested a chipotle hot sauce, which completely changed the flavors of the dish. In a good way, of course. She also had a side of potato hash, which could've been improved by crisping the potatoes a little bit more. Finally, my uncle ordered the pork belly hash, which was hyped up by the waiter but didn't quite meet our expectations. Not enough pork, the yolk wasn't runny enough, and the potatoes were not crispy enough, again.  A side of bacon was ordered to remedy that.
Overall, I love the restaurant itself-- and I would definitely come back here for the atmosphere and a few select dishes-- however, a couple of the meals were disappointing, which is why I'm giving the Greenwich Project 3 1/2 pineapples. Till next time!
