Vine Street Cafe

Hello all,

I've already written a great review for this restaurant in Shelter Island a while ago, but I came back again-- and wow was it disappointing.  I'd like to talk about everything that went wrong.

First off, our first crab/fluke ceviches were horrible-- they were very bitter and made you cringe when you ate it.  Then, as me and my family were talking, a waiter came by carrying a chair and hit my mom's back with the leg! Obviously it was accidental, but you really shouldn't be carrying furniture in a crowded restaurant, especially since the whole place is pretty tight.  And then, the guy apologized and tried to keep it a secret, but we told the manager anyway.  Then, our pasta dish-- the usual amazing Boar Ragu now had overcooked pasta and a pureed meat sauce like it came out of a can.  When we sent it back, we just got the same thing again! Very disappointing meal, and we will not be back here.

However, the free desserts were delicious (my apple rhubarb mini pie) and we had a great waitress.

I am moving Vine Street Cafe's original score from 4 1/2 pineapples to 2.

Till next time!
