Noreetuh just opened last month, and serves a cool mix of Hawaiian and Asian cuisines. It's also the first Hawaiian restaurant I've been to outside of Hawaii. While several of their dishes seem much more inspired by Hawaii, you can taste a huge influence of Asian spices and ingredients. To start, we ordered the kombu chips with chili lemon salt- absolutely horrible. So bitter. But hey, my uncle liked it. For our main appetizer, we had the big eye tuna poke, which was pretty much cubed pieces of raw tuna with AMAZING flavors. The tuna was refreshingly cold and tender, while the pickled jalapeƱos were spicy enough to compliment the nutty macadamian nuts. I could eat 5 of those. Finally, for our entrees we consumed the chow noodles and the garlic shrimp. The chow noodles were very slippery, but their peanut like flavors along with the sweet vegetables made up for them being hard to eat. The garlic shrimp was very tender, but I found it to be too salty. The rice was interesting though, as they molded it into a rectangular, buttery slab. There were little specks of pineapple- it would've been improved by grilled pineapple chunks.
Overall, I give noreetuh 3 pineapples. Definitely has potential, but needs work. Till next time!
