Quality Eats- 19 Greenwich Avenue, NY

Quality Eats seems to be a very lively spot on the outside, but when walking in, it's very poorly lit and feels like a weird nightclub that happens to serve 'Quality' food. Everything seems very tight, as if they're pressed for space, which only makes sense because the bar takes up the majority of the main room. A modern twist on the classic neighborhood steak joint, they serve lots of different cuts of meats along with a bunch of varied appetizers. To start, we ordered the Butternut Squash soup, which ended up being the highlight of the meal. (That's not a good thing) Regardless, the soup impressed-- you could taste the sweet, apple cider vinegar which perfectly complemented the creamy broth. From here on, everything goes downhill. My dad's skirt steak is a bit undercooked, and overall just too chewy. It could also use a lot more salt, or just some sort of better seasoning. My mom's short rib was cooked fine, but also seemed very bland. They definitely need some more quality flavors here. (Pun intended) Both of these came with a strange butternut pudding which really didn't work with the steak- too sweet, and seemed like a miniature repeat of the soup we just had. Finally, the patty melt. I expected more of a burger, but instead I received a 4-cut deformed sandwich. Not a huge deal, but the presentation seemed a bit sloppy, even for a burger. The first few bites were fine- yummy cheese, and the spicy jalapeƱo slaw gave a very welcomed kick. But the more and more I ate it, I just got sick of it. It became a mushy mess of really thin meat and soggy bread that was soaked in the juices of both the cheese and the slaw. Overall, not impressed by the quality of the food. The restaurant looked promising, but it doesn't live up to all the hype it's been getting. 2 pineapples.

Till next time,
