Vatos Urban Tacos, Seoul, Korea

VUT is a dive run by a Korean guy that speaks English. The restaurant is always busy, with western staff running around in cool t-shirts. They started you off with 5 giant round tortilla chips that you broke into pieces the size you wanted. They offered a spicy green salsa or a smokey red salsa that had a huge after burn. This place has a mix of Mexican and Korean tacos! We first had the short rib tacos with slaw. The beef was tender and crispy. The cabbage was crunchy. Then came the fish tacos. The fish batter was crispy and soft. Best fish taco I've had. The last tacos were fried pork belly which was too chewy and fatty. Not impressed. The special vatos sauce was very spicy and a little korean flavor. Vatos had fast service and good food, but they overcook all the meat. We saw fries topped with shredded kimchi, cheese and small pieces of meat at the next table. They looked amazing. I'll have to come back for that. Overall, I give Vatos 3 1/2 pineapples. At least it was better than Hecho en Dumbo. Sorry Mexico! See ya-tdg
