Scheltema-- Brussels, Belgum
Hello everybody-- for my winter vacation, I am in the beautiful city known as Brussels. Our concierge had suggested the restaurant as a delicious seafood spot, and a good way to finish our first day in Brussels. When we first walked in, it didn't look very impressive-- the place was relatively quiet. But, we were really hungry so we decided to stay. The restaurant had a very large kitchen and giant models of sailboats hanging down from the ceiling. The food on the menu wasn't very attractive-- there were only a few good things which we ended up ordering. I had the fish and chips, which turned out to be spectacular. The fish was perfectly fried, and the fried part didn't ruin the delicious white meat. Also, the frites were amazing. They were so hot and crispy. My mom had the bouillabaisse with shrimp, clams, mussels, and several types of white fish. It had an amazing hot broth, and the carrots and potatoes were delicious. All the seafood was perfectly cooked and seasoned. My mom said it was the best bouillabaisse that she's ever had. My dad had the sole with boiled potatoes and a side of spinach. The sole had a few bones, but otherwise delicious. The spinach was amazing, with an awesome flavor of butter and garlic. Scheltema was a very good start in Brussels, and I look forward to having more frites! Overall I give Scheltema 4 pineapples. See ya- tdg
