Eataly-- Il Pesce-- 200 5th Ave, NY
Italy is Eataly. My mom literally dragged me over here to have some seafood. My mom, grandma and I sat down at a small section in the giant food-court of pastas, fish, fruits, cheese, etc. Il pesce is the big fish market/eating place in Eataly, and they had a large selection of whole fish, grilled fish and fried specials. They gave us nice slices of sour dough bread, and our waitress even went out of her way to get butter from another section. Great service. I ordered the Fritto Misto, which was a dish of whole fish, shrimp, calamari, and octopus. All the food was perfectly fried and was hot and crispy. The calamari was my favorite, and it tasted extra good dipped in the spicy sauce. My mom ordered the razor clams with rainbow carrots. The razor clams were nice and garlicky, but were a bit too big. They were also sitting in too much oil. The rainbow carrots were quite colorful and delicious, and had a hearty sweetness to it. My grandma had the breaded swordfish special over a bed of sautéed red peppers. The breaded swordfish tasted a bit too briny to me, but the peppers were good. I liked Eataly, but I hope the next time I come they will improve a bit. Overall, I give Il Pesce 3 1/2 pineapples. -tdg
