Saxon & Parole-- 316 Bowery, NY

during our Spring break in the city, my family and I go to Saxon & Parole near our old neighborhood.  It is a very lively place, bustling with waiters and people loudly chatting at the bar.  There are several rooms within the restaurant.  We sit down in a cute little room with a beautiful fireplace.  The menu looks delicious, with aquatic delights, meats, and exquisite side dishes.  First, we get some sour dough rolls with two different types of butter-- one regular and one whisky miso.  It is sweet and creamier than the other butter.  As an appetizer, my dad and I share the Tuna and Scallop tartare with hazelnut-yuzu dressing and english cucumbers.  The entire dish is very refreshing; I love how the cucumbers are paper thin.  Yum!  For our entree, we order the Grilled Berkshire pork chop with purple potato salad and apple sauce.  I expect the pork to be a bit dry, but it is on the moist and tender side.  The purple potato salad is delicious, and the apple sauce is sweet and tasted good spread on the pork chop.  My mom's entree is the grilled monkfish over white beans, diced potatoes, and crumbled chorizo.   The monkfish is very meaty but tender also.  The chorizo adds a nice spicy kick.  For our three side dishes, we order the mixed green salad, horseradish mashed potatoes and the spicy/sweet grilled brussel sprouts.  Those are some of the best brussel sprouts I've ever had in my life.  Such an amazing mix of flavors, and served piping hot!  My mom and dad are raving about the Vanilla Porter, which is a delicious dark beer with caramel notes.  They tried to get me to taste it, but I am underaged.  Overall, I give Saxon & Parole 5 BRUSSEL SPROUTS.  What a spectacular dinner!  -tdg
