Tweeds Restaurant and Buffalo Bar-- Riverhead, NY

The moment you walk into Tweeds, you get a feeling of an old upscale tavern, despite the restaurant being pretty new. Old photographs decorate the wall, along with a huge bison head and deer head with antlers. The menu is, obviously, very buffalo centered-- buffalo burger, buffalo steak, buffalo pasta, etc. To start, my mom and I ordered the clear clam chowder and the buffalo kebabs. The soup was suprisingly delicious, contrary to its bland appearance. It was briny, the clams were fresh. and the diced potatos were perfectly cooked and yummy. And it came with oyster crackers. I like oyster crackers. The kebabs were the clear highlight -- while the meat was a bit tough, it tasted like a mix of beef and lamb, which is a very good mix. It also came drizzled in a sweet barbeque sauce, enhancing the flavors. For our entree, we shared the buffalo reuben sandwhich with potato wedges. Just to start, the wedges were huge, but out of this world good-- crispy and salty on the outside, but soft and hot on the inside. The reuben sandwhich was pastrami style buffalo, along with sauerkraut and cheddar cheese (substituted for swiss) drenched in russian dressing. Despite having some yummy salty flavors, I found the whole sandwhich to be a little too heavy in every aspect. Overall, Tweed's was interesting. I would love to come back here and try their buffalo burger, but would also order the kebabs again. They should also hire some more waiters-- took 15 minutes to get the check. 3 1/2 pineapples.

Till next time!
