The Frisky Oyster-- Greenport, Long Island, NY

The Frisky Oyster sounds like a random, worn down seafood restaurant, or even something along the lines of a tavern. Surprisingly, the Frisky Oyster is relatively modern, sporting a beautiful bar framed with sleek red steel. The restaurant has a small but complex menu, featuring local ingredients from a tomato soup to a lobster hash. Speaking of tomato soup, the Roasted Heirloom Tomato soup arrived steaming hot, with a bright orange color topped with torn basil. Warm, hearty, and salty, it was a perfect appetizer, one that was even better for mopping up the remaining sauce with a piece of bread. For my entree, I ordered the Crispy Calamari with Blistered Shishitos. The calamari was cooked to perfection, with a delicious crisp exterior and a tender juicy interior. The calamari was also complemented with a yummy, garlicky, "frisky" aioli sauce. But the highlight of the dish was undoubtedly the Shishito peppers. They had a slight char and a burst of quick-fix spice. I don't usually like Shishitos, so this was a pleasant surprise. My mom originally ordered the Sea Scallops with risotto, and while the scallops were tender and sweet, the risotto was simply too lukewarm and gummy. She sent it back in exchange for the lobster hash. Unfortunately, the hash was drowning in a pool of cream sauce. My dad's entree was the undisputed winner, The Frenched Pork chop.  The meat had a hard seared crust and a tender interior. The meal also came with grilled, juicy sweet frog hollow peaches, crunchy shaved fennel and a peach dipping sauce for the meat.
Overall, despite some of the flaws in my mom's meal, the Frisky Oyster has proved itself to be one of the better restaurants in Long Island. Fresh, bustling, and delicious, I give it 4 pineapples. Till next time!
