We were on a class trip to France, and we stumbled into Le Fee Gourmande- a tiny little restaurant in a small alleyway in the picturesque city of Arles. However, upon walking in, Le Fee Gourmande is much more a small house than a restaurant, occupied by a lovely husband and wife who have turned their quaint home into a mini restaurant with room for maybe 20 customers. Assorted tablecloths are spread upon the tables with mix-match flower plates, and a chalkboard menu only containing a few options. Most of us ended up ordering the same dish- Pork shoulder with sautéed vegetables and potato cake. I've had a lot of pork in my life, and I must say, this contends for possibly the most great, most tender, and most delicious piece of pork I have ever tasted. It was cooked to perfection with a slight char, and I barely put any pressure into the knife to cut a small piece. It also sat on a nice puddle of gravy, which only enhanced the savory flavors of the meat. The side dishes were also respectable and tasty. For dessert, I ordered a raspberry tart drizzled with caramel. Not too sweet, a perfect amount of tartness, and everything melted in your mouth. Some other dishes that people ordered included a creamy escargot stew, a lamb shank with curry, and a freshly caught grilled cod. Everybody was raving about their dish.
A fantastic meal in a beautiful and cute location, I give Le Fee Gourmande 5 pineapples. Till next time!
